Nail Surgery

Procedures for painful ingrown nails and other nail-unit problems.

Nail Surgery

What it is used for

  • Ingrown toenails
  • Recurrent nail-fold infection
  • Selected nail lesions

Who it may suit

People whose nail problem has not settled with conservative care, or where diagnosis requires a procedure.

How it works

Under a local anaesthetic block of the toe or finger, the problem portion of the nail is treated or removed.

What to expect

A clinic procedure. The digit will be bandaged afterwards; comfortable open footwear helps for toe procedures.

Recovery & downtime

Some tenderness for a few days. You will be given dressing instructions and a review plan.

Number of sessions

The number of sessions, if more than one is needed, is decided at consultation based on your condition and how your skin responds.

Important considerations

Let your doctor know about diabetes or circulation problems before a toe procedure.

General information only. Suitability, sessions and outcomes are decided individually at consultation.
